Last night, we issued our cadets two STEM challenges. The first half of the night, they were tasked to research paper aeroplane designs and come up with designs to fulfil 4 different criteria: longest flight by distance, longest flight by time, closest to a landing spot and longest flight by distance carrying a load of 3 paperclips. An interesting variation of designs soon started to take shape and were put to the test. Some were more successful than others!

The second half of the night, they were tasked to build a paper bridge. The winner would be the one that was able to support the most weight. Again, some were more successful than others. Two good exercises to encourage the cadets to think about structure and design.
