Falkirk Community Remembers the Fallen

Yesterday, the squadron came together to pay its respects to the past generations and those who made the ultimate sacrifice as we joined the local community in remembering the fallen of past conflicts.

It was the squadron’s honour to represent the RAF and RAFAC organisation at four local remembrance events. Part of the squadron took part in the service and wreath-laying ceremony at the main Falkirk event at Dollar Park headed by the squadron president and Falkirk Council Provost, Mr Robert Bissett. This was quickly followed by another service and wreath-laying as we joined our friends at Bainsford War Memorial. Simultaneously a group of staff and cadets attended Polmont Old Parish Church for its service and wreath-laying while a third group attended Christ Church where the squadron’s padre, the Rev Cannon Sarah Shaw led the service in remembering its past members who went to war, never to return.

The day concluded back at the squadron HQ where the Civilian Committee had put on filled rolls and hot chocolate to assist in keeping the cold out.

A hugely important event in the cadet calendar and we’re all immensely proud of our cadets for their turnout, behaviour and bearing in this very public event. A massive thank you to the squadron’s Civilian committee in assisting with the food and making the whole day run smoothly.
