470 Celebrates RAF 100
We were immensely proud to participate in local celebrations of the centenary of the Royal Air Force recently on May 26th 2018.
The celebrations saw nearly one hundred staff and cadets from six Squadrons, including: 470 (Falkirk), 1333 (Grangemouth), 1271 (Bathgate), 1019 (City of Stirling), 383 (Alloa) and 498 (Wishaw), all parading together in festivities that coincided with the RAF 100 baton tour visiting the Grangemouth Spitfire Memorial.
CI Storey also took an advance party of Sgt Keris Simpkins, Cpl Cameron Donald, Cdt Emily Gribben and Cdt Marc Dewar to meet the baton party, represented by Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde Air Squadron, at the Falkirk Wheel and Kelpies as they made their way to the Spitfire Memorial in Grangemouth.
It was a gloriously sunny warm day and a fantastic opportunity for the cadets to participate in a truly historic moment. Feedback from senior officers at the event noted the excellent job the cadets did, how well turned out they were and that all are a true credit to the RAF and Corps.
470 Officer Commanding, Flt Lt Jeff Bailey added: “As the Officer Commanding, I was very proud to see the standard maintained at a high level and also to receive the positive comments we have come to expect from our cadets and staff”.
